Violin
“Density, spirit, virtuosity, depth, generosity”. This
is how the press acclaimed the violinist Marianne Piketty; an artist
whose eclectic career ranges from “Bach to Piazzolla” and for whom solo
concerts, recitals, chamber music, unique duos, the major repertoire,
little-known works and the music of our time all feature side by side.
Marianne Piketty made her solo debut at the Salle Pleyel in Paris at the
age of seven. At twelve, she enrolled at the Paris Conservatoire
National Supérieur de Musique, where she obtained First Prizes for
Violin and Chamber Music. She then joined Dorothy DeLay’s famed soloist
class at the Juilliard School in New York and regularly performed in
master classes for Itzhak Perlman. She went on to win the "Artists
International" competition and make an auspicious debut at Carnegie
Recital Hall.
Upon her return to France, she won First Prize at the Young Soloist
Competition in Bordeaux and was awarded the Prix de la SACEM. Her
encounter with Yehudi Menuhin proved decisive as she was asked to
perform the Brahms concerto under his direction and to become a soloist
with his Foundation.
Her career as a soloist has led her to perform in Paris (at the Gaveau
and Pleyel halls) and with orchestras such as Saint Petersburg National
Orchestra, Lille National Orchestra, Lorraine National Orchestra,
Toulouse Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre Lamoureux, the Manchester Sinfonia,
and the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Caracas. In Kiev, she gave
the first performance of Renaud Gagneux’s Concerto for Violin with the
Ukrainian National Philharmonic Orchestra. She regularly performs at
festivals, including those of Radio-France and Montpellier, the
Flâneries musicales de Reims, Festival de l’Orangerie de Sceaux,
Nancyphonies, Festival Messiaen de la Meije, Les Violons de la Paix at
Boulogne sur Mer, “C’est pas classique” in Nice, Les Rencontres
musicales de Haute-Provence, Festival international de Besançon, and the
Istanbul International Festival.
A chamber music enthusiast, she was behind the creation of the “Solistes
de la Villedieu” based in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. The ensemble
consists of renowned musicians such as Eric Le Sage, Xavier Phillips,
Laurent Verney and Paul Meyer who come together to perform the not only
the major repertoire but also new works.
Marianne Piketty has also had the privilege of including amongst her
musical partners the likes of Dana Ciocarlie, Emmanuelle Bertrand, Marc
Coppey, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Antje Weithaas, Marie-Pierre Langlamet and
Pascal Amoyel.
Her recordings of Ysaye’s sonatas for solo violin and the violin and
piano sonatas by Lekeu and Pierné with Laurent Cabasso won unanimous
acclaim from the critics.
The unique violin-accordion duo she forms with Pascal Contet will be
performing in numerous cities and festivals this season with their
repertoire of transcriptions of classics, recent works by Bernard
Cavanna, Joëlle Léandre, Sophia Goubaidulina and new works by Graciane
Finzi, Laurent Mettraux and Javier Torres Maldonado. … Their last Cd «

Her latest recording for Integral Classic, Bohemia, with the pianist
Dana Ciocarlie is particularly noteworthy : “…an unsurpassed duo.
Marianne Piketty’s violin has a touch of Paganini at the tip of the bow
and Romani musical genes inside the strings…” Le Monde
Marianne Piketty frequently gives Master Classes in both France and
abroad and since 2001 has been a professor at the Conservatoire National
Supérieur de Musique in Lyon. Marianne performs on a violin by Carlo
Tononi, dated 1685.

que la presse accueille actuellement la violoniste Marianne Piketty qui
développe une carrière éclectique « de Bach à Piazzolla » où se côtoient
concerts en soliste, récitals, musique de chambre, duos originaux, grand
répertoire, œuvres à découvrir et créations contemporaines.
Marianne Piketty donne son premier concert en soliste à la Salle Pleyel
à 7 ans. Elle entre à 12 ans au CNSM de Paris où elle obtiendra les
Premiers Prix de violon et de musique de chambre. Elle intègre alors la
classe de Dorothy DeLay à la Juilliard School à New-York et participe à
de nombreuses master-classes avec Itzhak Perlman. Elle remporte «The
Artists International Competition » et fait des débuts remarqués à
Carnegie Recital Hall.
Sa rencontre avec Yehudi Menuhin sera déterminante. Elle va interpréter
le concerto de Brahms sous sa direction et devenir soliste de sa
Fondation.
Les invitations en soliste la conduisent de Paris (Pleyel et Gaveau), à
l’Orchestre National de Saint-Pétersbourg, l’Orchestre National de
Lille, l’Orchestre National de Lorraine, l’Orchestre Lamoureux,
l’orchestre de Toulouse, le Sinfonia de Manchester, l’Orchestre Simon
Bolivar de Caracas… Elle a donné la première à Kiev du concerto de
Renaud Gagneux avec l’Orchestre de la Philharmonie d’Ukraine. Elle est
présente aux festivals de Radio-France et Montpellier, aux Flâneries

Passionnée de musique de chambre, Marianne Piketty crée avec Eric Le
Sage, Xavier Phillips et Paul Meyer l’ensemble des « Solistes de la
Villedieu » qui est en résidence à Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. Elle a
également le privilège de compter parmi ses partenaires Dana Ciocarlie,
Emmanuelle Bertrand, Marc Coppey, Ophélie Gaillard, Jean-Guihen Queyras,
Antje Weithaas, Lise Berthaud, Pascal Amoyel, Marie-Pierre Langlamet…
Depuis 2006, Marianne Piketty forme avec Pascal Contet un duo original
violon-accordéon dans un programme alliant improvisation, transcriptions
et créations. Ils sont dédicataires d’œuvre composées par Graciane Finzi,
Laurent Mettraux, Renaud Gagneux, Javier Torres Maldonado et Jean-Pierre
Drouet. Leur premier enregistrement « Night’s Dream » a été
chaleureusement accueilli : « Ensemble, ils défrichent, transcrivent ou
passent commande. Ainsi se constitue un répertoire... Marianne Piketty
et Pascal Contet nous font voyager et surtout rêver. C’est devenu si
rare aujourd’hui qu’on ne sait comment les en remercier. » Arte

duo hors pair. Le violon de Marianne Piketty a une pointe de Paganini au

Marianne Piketty est professeur au CNSM de Lyon et donne de nombreuses
master-classes en France et à l’étranger. Elle joue sur un violon
vénitien de Carlo Tononi daté de 1685.
