Born in 1978, he studied in London and Paris, at the Guildhall School of
music with Paul Edmund-Davies, and at the « Conservatoire National Supérieur
de Musique de Paris » where he obtained the first prize of flute in the
class of Sophie Cherrier and Vincent Lucas.
Whereas it was yet only student in Paris, he is appointed at the age of 22
principal flute of the Orchestra of the Lyon National Opera house.
In 2005, he is appointed principal flute of the BBC National Orchestra of
Wales, where he will remain until 2006, before returning to the Lyon Opera
House. He is currently the only French flutist to have held this position in
a British orchestra.
He played in Europe, North America, Middle and Far East, as a soloist or
within many orchestras as the London Symphony Orchestra, the London
Philharmonic, L’orchestre de Paris, the Paris Opera House, the Philharmonic
Orchestra of Strasbourg, the "Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra", "Hallé
Orchestra", the Chamber orchestra of Lausanne... under the direction of
Michael Tilson Thomas, Ivan Fischer, Colin Davis, Andrew Davies, E Krivine,
E Pido, Y. Temirkanov, C. Eschenbach, V. Jurovski, W. Christie, R. Hickocs,
M. Elder, P. Berglund, L. Langrée, S. Mintz...
In 2004, he is prize winner with his pianist of the 50th international
competition of sonatas in Barcelona. He also played Bach as a soloist during
2 years near the famous dancer-choreographer Régine Chopinot, creating the
part "Column" in Japan and in many countries.
In 2007, he plays as a soloist with the Stuttgart Kammerorchester at the
Rheingau Festival, and makes his debut within the prestigious Academy of
Saint Martin in the fields, with Joshua Bell for an european tour.
He is teaching with P. Bernold at the " Conservatoire National Supérieur de
musique de Lyon" and at the Nice academy. He is often invited for
masterclasses in France, Europe, China, Japon, Korea...
Né en 1978, il étudie à Londres et à Paris, à la Guildhall School of music
avec Paul Edmund-Davies, et au Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique
de Paris où il obtient le premier prix de flûte dans la classe de Sophie
Cherrier et Vincent Lucas.
Alors qu'il n'était encore qu'étudiant à Paris, il est nommé première flûte
solo de l'Orchestre de l'Opéra National de Lyon, succédant à l’âge de 22 ans
à Philippe Bernold. En 2005, il est nommé première flûte solo du BBC
National Orchestra of Wales, où il restera jusqu’en 2006, avant de revenir à
l’Opéra de Lyon. Il est actuellement le seul flûtiste français à avoir tenu
ce poste dans un orchestre britannique. Il s'est produit en Europe, Amérique
du Nord, Moyen et Extrême Orient, en tant que soliste ou au sein de nombreux
orchestres comme le London Symphony Orchestra, le London Philharmonic, the
Academy of Saint Martin in the fields, l'Orchestre de Paris, l'Opéra de
paris, l'Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse, l'Orchestre Philharmonique de
Strasbourg, the "Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra", le "Hallé Orchestra",
l’Orchestre de chambre de Lausanne...sous la direction de Michael Tilson
Thomas, Ivan Fischer, Peter Eotvos, Colin Davis, Andrew Davies, E. Krivine,
E. Pido, Y. Temirkanov, C. Eschenbach, W. Christie, R. Hickocs, M. Elder, P.
Berglund, L. Langrée, S. Mintz... il s'est également produit aux côtés
d'artistes comme Denis Pascal, Ishiro Nodaïra, Jean François Zygel, Ariane
Jacob, le quatuor Psophos, Christine Icart, Philippe Bernold, Tasso
Adamopoulos,etc...
En 2004, il est lauréat avec sa pianiste du 50ème concours international de
sonates de Barcelone. Il a également joué Bach en soliste pendant 2 années
auprès de la célèbre danseuse-chorégraphe Régine Chopinot, créant la pièce
"Colonne" au Japon et dans de nombreux pays.
Professeur adjoint de Philippe Bernold au Conservatoire National Supérieur
de Musique de Lyon et à l'académie internationale d'été de Nice, il enseigne
également lors de masterclasses, en France, Japon, Corée, Taiwan, Chine,
Europe... On peut l'entendre dans les enregistrements des œuvres
contemporaines de C. Menesson, et dans les solos de flûte de "Lucie de
Lammermoor" auprès de Natalie Dessay. (Virgin Classics).
